One of the cool things about running a crowdfunding campaign for the first time is that as each day goes by, you learn something new and interesting! One thing we have learned is that it has actually allowed people, including us, to avoid anxiety and potential stress later in the year and, yes, it is only March! Intrigued? Read on!
So . . . our rewards are to be fulfilled by the 1st of October (we actually aim for this to be sooner) with our album scheduled for completion and release in November; this means that for those who are keen to be more organised where gift giving is concerned there is the opportunity to get something nice for someone now and have it arrive a little later. It may seem a little unorthodox however it is not so strange at all; for example, if you have friend with an October birthday, it works out very well and even if their birthday is earlier, they would still be getting something very special in the end! There are huge benefits to being the gift-giver in this scenario; you can feel good about purchasing a more meaningful gift or experience, the person you love can receive something truly unique, you would be supporting mental health awareness and helping a grass roots band record the album of songs everybody is waiting for. Lots of 'wins' attached to that and it is 'paying it forward' in the most literal of senses. It seems fitting now that one word we have to mention is 'Christmas'. We know, we know . . . that seems a bit silly in March however there is actually some level of common sense here. There are huge benefits to early gift-buying for Christmas for you as an individual; it is a far more pro-active process than a reactive one. Check out these benefits below!
You feel you have more time to source more unique and meaningful gifts.
You can actually save money during the Christmas period; running around a number of shops at the last minute can actually end up in people spending more in a panic.
You can avoid stress and tension during the busiest shopping event of the year.
There is a sense of achievement and a calmness gained knowing you are far more organised.
Most importantly . . . you can focus entirely on simply enjoying the festive season with the people you love. There is far more time to plan that epic party!
If you are interested in learning more on the topic of gift-giving, we recommend the two links below to material by The Minimalists. The guys are generally brilliant at reducing anxiety and stress and are very proactive about making life easier through better planning and paying attention to what is the most useful and necessary element of any situation. Check them out! We subscribe to their podcast and our lives have changed dramatically as a result! READ: The Minimalists essay on 'Gift-Giving'.
LISTEN: The Minimalists podcast on 'Gift-Giving'. Our rewards store is already becoming a popular place for the purchasing of gifts for loved ones whether it be for Mothers' Day tomorrow (a great last-minute idea actually if you are struggling), birthdays and / or Christmas. This is absolutely brilliant because it is very obviously helping us reach our funding target; it is an all or nothing target so getting to that 100% is absolutely vital to us being able to make a difference towards mental health awareness, to the Scottish Association for Mental Health and to the survival of the project. The rewards include tickets to very exclusive food and drink events, pre-orders of the album itself (with some excellent personalisation options), painted canvasses and handwritten lyrics and all sorts of other exciting options. Why not have a wee look and see if there is something a member of your family or one of your friends would like? Also, does anybody else do that thing where you are out buying gifts and you think 'one for them and one for me'? You can definitely find something nice for yourself here too! Click the big button below!
Finally, we would like to say a massive THANK YOU to those of you who have pledged towards our campaign so far; we are very nearly at the first major campaign milestone of 25%. Without you, it just simply would not be possible! Have a brilliant weekend everybody!
